Department of Defense Releases Final Rule Regarding PTAs and OTAs and TRICARE

The Department of Defense has finally released the long-awaited Final Rule adding PTAs and OTAs as approved providers under TRICARE. The rule is scheduled to be published in the Federal Register on March 17th, and becomes effective 30 days later. Under this rule, supervision requirements for assistants align with Medicare regulations. In the private practice setting, direct supervision by a licensed therapist is required; in an institutional setting, assistants may work under general supervision.
