CMS Delays Review Choice Demonstration for NC and FL

On Thursday, October 29, CMS announced they will be extending the phased-in participation deadline for the Review Choice Demonstration in the states of North Carolina and Florida until January 1, 2021, in light of the continuing COVID-19 public health emergency.

        • Providers may continue submitting pre-claim reviews if they choose to.
        • Claims that go through pre-claim review and are submitted with a valid UTN will be excluded from further medical review.
        • Claims submitted without going through pre-claim review will process as normal and will not be subject to a 25% payment reduction, although these claims may be subject to post-payment review in the future via the normal medical review process.
        • Providers do not need to take any further action if they choose not to participate at this time.
